About Me

I am an Egyptian filmmaker, cinematographer, educator, and PhD researcher working across narrative, documentary, experimental, and immersive storytelling.

My creative practice explores human experiences, identity, displacement, social issues, and the ways people navigate personal and cultural challenges. As a filmmaker, I have worked across directing, screenwriting, producing, cinematography, and editing on projects produced in Egypt and the United States. My films have screened at international film festivals across the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Arab world, and have received international awards and recognition.

I hold an MFA in Film, with a focus on Screenwriting and Directing, from Ohio University, as well as an MA in Television News and Digital Journalism from The American University in Cairo. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Media Arts & Studies at Ohio University, where my academic and creative interests bring together filmmaking, media studies, research, and emerging technologies.

A central interest in my work is bridging theory and creative practice. I am particularly interested in exploring how film and media theories can inform cinematic storytelling, and how filmmaking can serve as a creative space for examining theoretical ideas. Rather than approaching theory and practice as separate fields, I seek to connect critical inquiry with story, visual language, and the filmmaking process.

Alongside my creative and research practice, I teach film and media, bringing both theoretical perspectives and hands-on production experience into the classroom. My teaching interests include filmmaking, video and audio production, visual storytelling, film analysis, and the relationship between media theory and creative practice.

My work also engages with emerging forms of storytelling, including experimental cinema, 360° immersive storytelling, and artificial intelligence in contemporary media. I am interested in how technological change can expand cinematic language and reshape storytelling while keeping human experience at the center of the creative process.

Across my work as a filmmaker, researcher, and educator, I aim to create a dialogue between theory, storytelling, and practice—using each to deepen the others and to explore new ways of understanding and creating moving-image media.
